Egg Tempera
2007
14 x 25
Egg Tempera is a medium for painting that pre-dates the Renaissance and oil painting. Egg Tempera is created by mixing raw pigment with egg yolk, vinegar and water. Keith has been painting with Egg Tempera for twenty years, and finds that its transparency and richness of color allow a nuance and range that enables him to capture light and the distillation of objects and buildings within an ever-changing landscape. "My training as an artist and architect inspires me to explore the rich terrain between the built and the unbuilt environment, the pasteurized versus the wild landscape, and the blurred line between our creations and the natural world."
Keith studied art at the Banff School of Fine Arts in in Canada, as well as at Dartmouth College in New Hampshire. He has a B.A. in Fine Arts from the University of Minnesota, as well as a Masters in Architecture from Montana State University.
