My Client, a retired oil executive from Charlotte, desired a large second home to be used as an extended family retreat in the mountains of North Carolina. The site is surrounded by 30 foot high boulders, which became a magnificent design feature, with the 7,500 square home tucked in between the igneous rocks. With seven bedrooms and ten bathrooms, the home comfortably accommodates their children and grandchildren. We designed the home in the style of refined, but somewhat rustic elegance. Beautiful custom built-in cabinets, white oak floors, ghost wood walls, full wine cellar, a chef’s state of the art culinary kitchen and a folding window wall that opens up from the Great Room onto the Terrace. This home is currently under construction.
